Massad Boulos, the U.S. President’s Senior Adviser for Africa and the Middle East and North Africa, reaffirmed the U.S. administration’s support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a lasting political settlement to the conflict over occupied Western Sahara, one that is acceptable to the parties concerned, amid continued coordination between Washington and the United Nations on the issue.
The U.S. official made the remarks following talks with Rosemary DiCarlo, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. The two officials discussed a number of regional issues and developments, as well as ways to advance the political process concerning the decolonization of Western Sahara.
In a post published today, Saturday, September 12, on his official account on the social media platform X, Boulos stressed the importance of continuing efforts to reach a mutually acceptable political solution to the Western Sahara issue.
